Direct Marketing - How to Create a Free ISBN Bar Code With a Price
Saturday, November 23, 2013
There are millions of books in print. Just a glance at the shelves of the public library or the listings of online book retailers gives one a sense of the multitude of available titles. The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) system was developed to give each book a unique code. ISBN numbers can also be represented as bar codes. This makes categorizing and classifying book titles more efficient, and can be very useful for commercial booksellers managing their inventory.
1
Go to a free, online ISBN bar code generator, such as that offered by TUX.org, terryburton.co.uk or barcoding.com.
2
Select the symbology, or the system of classification -- in this case, of course, it will be "ISBN."
3
Click "Make Barcode."
4
Save the barcode as a high-quality JPEG file.
5
Install self-checking barcode "fonts," such as Code 39 and Codabar, to verify the barcode was successfully produced.
6
Change your printer settings to black-and-white in the highest resolution available in order to print the barcode properly. You can use inkjet, laser, high-quality dot matrix or thermal printers.
7
Use special, high-speed thermal barcode printers for the best results. Although this is not absolutely necessary, it may be advisable for high-volume professional printing.
8
Affix the barcode in the rear of the book. Most barcodes are placed in the lower right-hand corner, but this is not imperative.
