Here’s 7 simple tips about how to layout your blog post.
It all depends upon what the purpose your blogging. The 3 main reasons people blog are…
*The engage with others
*To offer information
*To promote a product, service or offer
For the sake of this post we’re going to consider just the third option although much of the information provided can be used for the first two options.
Below are 7 very simple steps in how to structure your blog for maximum effect.
Step #1: Opening Paragraph
Your opening few words have to good. The person visiting your site needs to know that they’ve landed in the right place. They have used their ‘search engine’ using a key word or phrase and your content has to match their search
If you fail to do this then they will ‘bounce’ straight off your site. It’s estimated you have just 6 seconds to make your point. People are impatient and if you don’t catch their attention immediately then they won’t stay to read your content
Step #2: Expose An Issue or Pain
This works particularly well if you’re using your blog to sell something. If you have researched your ‘target market’ then you’ll know the issues and problems associated with that niche.
You can ‘expose their pain’ talking about the things that cause them to lose sleep. They’re actively searching for a solution and you want them to know they’ve come to the right place to get the answer they so badly want.
Step #3: Offer A Solution
It’s then time to offer your solution. This will be your product or service your offering. You can discuss the benefits they’ll experience from purchasing your offer.
It helps of course if you speak from a position of passion and experience. This means that you own the product yourself or have devised it and you feel truly passionate that it does have the capability to offer someone else a genuine solution to their problem.
Step #4: Use Images
Images are powerful. Different people pick up on different things and images are a great way of saying what your offer is about at a glance.
You can copy free images from various sources. I personally use ‘Google Images’ and ‘Bing Images’ but there are many other sources including your own photographs.
Be sure to select your images carefully. There has to correlation between the image and the content. You can also make you image a ‘clickable link’ to your offer.
Step #5: Use Video
Video is immensely powerful. For people who are visual videos work really well. It’s strongly advisable to create your own videos so as people can ‘connect with you’.
Keep your videos short and to the point. 2-3 minute videos work well. All you’re doing is repeating much of the information you provide in the text.
It a great idea to create your own YouTube channel and publish your finished videos on your channel. This is a way of ‘re-purposing’ your content.
If you don’t enjoy writing another tactic is to use a video on your blog and then list bullet points below which highlight the points you’ve made in the video
Step #6: Include a Postscript
Always use a postscript under your name at the end of the blog post. You can add another benefit of owing the product or service your offer.
Some people ‘scan’ content by reading the opening and last paragraphs. If you’ve caught their eye in the opening sentence and you’ve got a benefit and ‘call to action’ in your postscript you’ve got it covered.
Step #7: Call To Action
Always include a ‘Call to Action’. You do a great job of producing a fantastic blog post with quality content and then don’t ask the person to buy. It’s so important to include a call to action. This is a topic all by itself but here’s two types of call to action…
‘Direct’ Call To Action: Pretty much ‘Buy This Product Now’. It’s called direct as it’s just that; very open and very much to the point
‘Embedded’ Call To Action: This is more subtle. You explaining why the person should buy based upon your experiences of using the products. You’re highlighting the features and benefits. Many people feel more comfortable with this however you have to have intimate knowledge of the product or service
If you follow the 7 simple tips above then you’ll be on your way to creating great blog posts. It may take a little time to get used to it but it becomes natural once you’re used to it.
