Direct Marketing - How to Make a Trifold Brochure of Photos
Saturday, November 23, 2013
Trifold brochures are a standard promotional tool for businesses looking to convey information. With many businesses soliciting with brochures, finding a way to stand out from the pack is critical. This can be achieved by adding photos. To make an immediate graphic impact, photos have to be used in the right way. By choosing pictures and placement correctly, you can enhance the readability and the quality of your trifold brochure.
1
Draw a mock up of your desired brochure on a plain sheet of paper using a pen or pencil. It will be used as a guide while you design it on the computer. It will help you remember what goes in each column to avoid confusion.
2
Choose a brochure template from a computer program. Most systems, such as Microsoft Word, have a template wizard that will walk you through creating a trifold brochure. If this is not available, change the orientation of the paper feed in your printer to landscape and go to the "Format" tab and select a three column design. This will offer a visual separation on the page to show the sections of the page and how it will look when folded.
3
Place your best graphic on the front. It should be eye-catching, but not overwhelming. When using a photo, it should be of high quality and be very crisp. If you instead choose to use a graphic, such as a stick figure or water drop, it should be large.
4
Drag and drop photos throughout the brochure, but make sure the photos are not cluttering the page. When placing photos, keep in mind that if they are only half a column wide, the text around them will only be an inch and be difficult to read. Most photos should take up the width of the column so they can be easily seen and won't cut off text. Smaller photos flanked by a small amount of writing is visually acceptable.
